Maidenhead and District Arts Council (MaDAC) was formed in the 1970s with the aims of
campaigning for the funds, and a site, to build a community arts centre in Maidenhead. After many years of blind alleys, site suitability surveys and in part with National Lottery funding, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts was finally commissioned. The new Arts Centre opened in 2000.
Its primary goals achieved, MaDAC has undergone a recent re-evaluation of its aims and
objectives. MaDAC continues to be a registered charity with charitable endeavours - namely to educate and facilitate the general public in the appreciation of, and participation in, the Arts.
This website is one of those facilities, and the information it contains will hopefully encourage the residents of Maidenhead to take advantage of the rich diversity of artistic groups active in the area.
MaDAC is made up of a representative from each member group which meets once a year to elect an executive committee to fulfil the function of charity trustees. The executive committee then drives forward projects on behalf of MaDAC.
The executive committee continues to look for other ways to inform and encourage the public, not only to join a group, but to attend events mounted by each individual group, be it an exhibition, recital or stage production. To help achieve this aim, MaDAC now has its own Facebook site, just click the logo above right
