The Cookham Arts Club

The Cookham Arts Club was founded in 1941 for the study and encouragement of the arts in general. Nowadays there is a strong emphasis on the visual, drawing, painting, sculpture etc in the media. We offer a wide range of activities. We have demonstrations by well known artists, lectures and other activities. There are monthly Sunday outdoor painting days, and we have 4 Art workshops per year.

There are weekly paintings on Tuesday afternoons; "Tuesday Painting" with a theme to work from, followed by a cup of tea and friendly criticism at the end of the session; "Tuesday Extra" where artists are free to work on anything of their own choice, They enjoy a cup of teas, but no reviews. There are outings to the Royal Academy, the Tate Gallery, the Mall and several others.

We also have an Art Holiday for our members. We have a Members' only exhibition at Pinder Hall. The main event of the year is also at Pinder Hall, Cookham which is the 10 day exhibition which takes place in August. This exhibition is open to members and non-members alike. All work goes before a selection committee, but members are guaranteed one acceptance. Standards and sales figures are high.
