Ellington Morris
Ellington Morris, the Maidenhead based Morris dance team, was formed in 1971 and named after the Doomsday Book's name for Maidenhead.
The Team, or Side, performs handkerchief and stick dances in the Cotswolds tradition and in spite of changing fashion, Morris dancing remains very popular at festivals, fetes, garden parties an weddings. Any able-bodied person from eighteen upwards can have a go at dancing and musicians, with instruments that can be played outdoors, are especially welcome.
We are a friendly and inclusive mixed team with a good sense of humour who enjoy the traditional dancing, music and socialising which goes with the Morris. The emphasis is definitely on having fun! Newcomers are always welcome, either as dancers or musicians.
Practice sessions are indoors September to April, moving to various pubs in the Thames Valley during the summer - all on Wednesday evenings. Phone 01628 531 958 for details.
No membership fee applicable for the first year.
