Maidenhead Astronomical Society

Maidenhead Astronomical Society provides the opportunity for RBWM residents to discover the wonders of the Universe at our friendly, informative meetings. We cater for all levels of interest, from people who are just starting out, through arm-chair astronomers, to those who want to observe the heavens above our town.

Astronomy offers a wealth of mind-blowing experiences, such as seeing the majestic rings around Saturn through a telescope, exploring the feature-rich craters and seas on the Moon and viewing the Andromeda Galaxy, the most distant object visible to the naked eye. Our monthly meetings offer talks on a wide mix of subjects, given by society members and invited guest speakers.

We regularly hold observing evenings where we meet up somewhere dark for observing through members telescopes. A few times a year we hold well-attended public observing events at Braywick Nature Centre which include talks, an exhibition, the opportunity to look through some of our telescopes and to ask questions. At the moment we do not have a young-persons branch, however a number of attentive youngsters (accompanied by parents) regularly attend and enjoy our monthly meetings.

Everybody is welcome.
