Maidenhead Musical Comedy Society (MMCS), was formed on 15th November 1966 by Betty and Roy Gaunt. The first show was presented in the Desborough Suite, Maidenhead in 1967 and the latest, ‘La Cage aux Folles’, see cast picture, right...
Over the years we have performed a whole host of amateur musical productions including South Pacific, Chicago, Cabaret, Calamity Jane, 42nd Street, Anything Goes ... the list goes on! We perform two musicals a year at the Desborough Suite, (usually October and April) and through the reputation which the society has, attract a vast audience and support. We rehearse on Tuesdays at St Nicholas School, Taplow and Wednesdays at Taplow Village Hall and we are affiliated to NODA.
MMCS welcome new members – dab hands and newcomers. We have a lot of fun and it is a great way to meet new people. We get together on a regular basis through our social events and after rehearsals at the local pub! Our productions are cast following open auditions. With over 70 members, the age range covers from sixteen through to retirement age.
We pride ourselves on the high quality of our productions. The costumes and sets are hired for the shows, enabling the performers to focus on the acting, dancing and singing. Our resident Musical Director Neil Matthews, has worked with a number of Directors and Choreographers who have been involved with our Company.
