Tæppa's Tump North West Morris Dancers were formed in January 1981. Most of our dances are based on those that originated in the North West of England. We wear traditional clogs, as those that were worn in the mill towns. Practices are held at Furze Platt Memorial hall every Tuesday evening 8 – 10. In the summer we dance at local functions, folk festivals, carnivals, charity events, pub evenings with other teams, and fund raise for local charities. This year we are supporting "Adventure Playground” at Taplow.
We performed at Gibraltar's 300-year celebrations, and took over the hostel for the duration of our stay. The locals made us very welcome, and we had a wonderful time.
We also performed in Viry, France at "The English Tea Party", which is becoming quite a famous event in the Burgundy region. It is organised by expatriates from several European countries. The locals hosted the team for the duration of our visit. The Mayor of La Clayette, a local town, also invited the team to a civic reception where we performed.
We run free taster evenings every Tuesday, starting on the 13th September for female dancers, no experience needed as we will teach you the steps. Its good fun, helps us to keep fit, and you can make new friends too. We also welcome male and female musicians. We are always looking for new members, so give it a go at our free taster evenings and see if you enjoy it. We are a friendly bunch, and you would be made very welcome.
