Description

Maidenhead Folk Dance Club is a group which meets to dance and have fun!

It is similar to Ceilidh or Barn dancing so some of the vocabulary will be known to you, although there is quite a language of moves to understand and it won't happen immediately.   You do not need to come with a partner as it is our habit to change partners each dance but come with friends and make new ones!.

We enjoy dancing both English or American styles of country dancing. Dances can be from 1600 up to the present day. All dances are “called” (the movements walked through before the music starts and then reminded as we dance). The callers are in charge of an evening and either bring CDs, use our local band  (Chris and Patsy)  or bring their own. Some times they play and call!

We break for tea, coffee, squash and biscuits in the middle (also to pay weekly subs).

Come and join us at Furze Platt Memorial Hall, dancing begins promptly at 8pm, hall opens just before 7.45 and finishes at 10.15pm.

Our Autumn term begins on September 21st  and we look forward to welcoming new members
