Each year the Windsor and Maidenhead Symphony Orchestra runs a competition for Young Musicians. Two of the talented performers in 2019 were Emily Ambrose and Oliver Simpson.
Emily Ambrose - bassoon
Emily is a music scholar at Marlborough College. She attends the Junior Department of The Royal Academy of Music, studying bassoon with Jo Baillie-Stark and recorder with Barbara Law. A keen orchestral player, Emily is a member of The National Youth Orchestra. She will be accompanied by Daniel King Smith (piano)

Oliver Simpson - cello
Oliver is also a music scholar, at Abingdon School. He achieved Grade 8 Distinction at the age of ten after only starting the cello at the age of seven. He was principal cello with the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain for five years, where he also held the prestigious Leverhulme Scholarship.
